Hebrews 13:8 states “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever”. Here we are (again) in the season of love. February 14th is just around the corner. We go off and buy candy and make reservations at a nice restaurant to have a nice dinner with that someone special. We purchase flowers and cards. But have you ever wondered what valentine’s day means to God? I’m not really talking about the holiday itself, but what it expresses, namely: LOVE. Paul was correct that God’s love never changes. Ever!
He hasn't changed - He's always the same, which means, just as in the Old Testament, and in the New Testament, He's the SAME today!! The scripture states: "GOD is love" [I John 4:8]. You see, GOD chose to send His only begotten Son to earth, to redeem us from our sins, through grace by faith, and it's still in His plans for everyone who accepts, because He is a lover of our souls. Peter states “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
You see, the gift that God gave us wasn’t chocolate (yummy), or a card; it was Himself. God’s greatest gift was His great and deep passionate love for us, to the point that He sent His Son in order for us to be saved, so we could sit down with Him for dinner, not in any old restaurant, but at the greatest food table in the whole universe, His table in heaven, because He is the lover of our souls.
